Global tour and cruise operator Tauck recently announced that it will partner with the Sarasota-based experiential tour company, AuthentEscapes, on its “Classic Italy” tour. As part of the tour, guests will visit the celebrated Salvatore Ferragamo Museum in Florence with Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson of the esteemed Italian footwear designer.
“It’s the perfect fit,” says Malaka Hilton, owner and president of AuthentEscapes. “This unprecedented opportunity is available because of our long-standing relationship with Salvatore Ferragamo and his family. We’re delighted to partner with Tauck to create an unforgettable journey.”
Based in Connecticut and celebrating its 85 anniversary in 2010, Tauck is a world leader in guided travel, with nearly 100 tours and cruises in 65 countries. The company has been named to Travel + Leisure magazine’s list of the “World’s Best Tour Operators & Safari Outfitters” in each of the past 12 years, and is currently ranked No. 4 on the magazine’s list of the “World’s Best Small-Ship Cruise Lines.”

Hilton explains that the Ferragamo brand is synonymous with Italy.
“The Ferragamo family’s legacy is celebrated throughout Italy and the world,” says Hilton. “The museum is a testament to Salvatore Ferragamo’s remarkable impact on the worlds of fashion and design. Imagine having a family member guiding you through the treasures.” She explains that the museum houses the designer’s sketches, photographs, patents, casts of celebrity feet, and some 10,000 shoes.
During the tour, the 37-year-old Salvatore Ferragamo, who now manages the family’s estate and winery in Tuscany, Il Borro, will host Tauck guests at a private wine tasting featuring select vintages from his family’s estate.
“We look forward to creating more partnerships with Tauck,” says Hilton. “Both of our companies understand that affluent leisure travelers seek more than just luxury when they travel; they seek extraordinary experiences that enrich, educate and inspire.”
AuthentEscapes pairs iconic figures in food, wine, sports, entertainment, and global culture with the world’s most exotic destinations. Hilton describes these exclusive travel experiences as, “Over-the-top activities and events that are all about the ‘wow-factor.’ Our travelers meet influential people and gain access to special places that leave them with memories and experiences they will treasure for a lifetime.” Click here for AuthentEscapes 2011 Palio tour with Salvatore Ferragamo.
