Salvatore Ferragamo, grandson to the esteemed Italian footwear designer, is president of the Ferragamo family’s agriculture, wine and leisure complex at Il Borro.
Located in the ancient hills of Arezzo, travelers soak up the charm of rural Tuscany on this vast expanse of land that is home to vineyards and olive trees, producing artisans and a variety of livestock.
“It's a very special estate,” says Ferragamo. “Imagine spending a holiday in a beautiful medieval hamlet perched on top of a hill. The only way to access it is a narrow and tall stone bridge.”
Owned and managed by the Ferragamo family since 1993, Ferragamo has worked tirelessly to establish the wines of Il Borro as an international symbol of excellence and quality. “Generally we try to keep the fashion side and wines quite separate,” he says. “You will not find the name Ferragamo on the bottle of Il Borro… Our wines are treated with great respect and credibility to the final consumers.”
After developing a friendship with The Hilton’s in 2005, Ferragamo has welcomed our travelers to his family’s private villa numerous times. “I truly enjoy spending time with the travelers that Malaka brings to Tuscany. To share valuable experiences such as the Palio with her guests is always a pleasure.”
Ferragamo is a graduate of New York University’s Stern School of Business with emphasis in Finance and International Business.
Salvatore will escort travelers to the famous Palio horse race in Sienna in June/July of 2011 and host travelers attending Andrea Bocelli's outdoor concert in Tuscany in July 2010. Both programs include the opportunity to stay in the Ferragamo Family Villa at Il Borro.
